The Friendlies Afterhours Healthcare Centre is currently undergoing a significant extension and facelift.  This expansion has been prompted by the significant growth in activity since the centre first opened three years ago.  The waiting area will double in size and an additional two consulting rooms will be created, making a visit to the Afterhours Centre more comfortable and spacious for patients and their families.

During the construction period the entry to the Afterhours Centre has been temporarily relocated to the front entrance of the hospital, however when construction is completed, in late July the entrance will return to its original street front location in Bingera Street.

The Friendlies Afterhours Healthcare Centre has also responded to the increase in activity through the recruitment of a third Doctor, taking the number of full time Doctor’s on staff to three.  The Afterhours practice is further supported by the majority of local General Practitioners who either participate on the roster or have contracted with the service to care for their patient’s after-hours. During busy times we have two doctors on roster to ensure a reasonable response time for unwell patients.

The cost of the project is anticipated to exceed $200,000 and represents yet another significant boost to the provision of healthcare services to the people of Bundaberg and surrounds.  Importantly, the Friendlies Afterhours Healthcare Centre is a community owned facility, whereby all profits are reinjected into the business to improve the service to the community, as evidenced through this most recent expansion and investment.

The Friendlies Afterhours Healthcare Centre operates:
Monday – Friday, 6pm till 8am
Weekends, 12noon Saturday – 8am Monday
