Our Mission:
To be the Hospital of choice for friendly, quality healthcare.

The Friendly Society Private Hospital is a leading healthcare facility located in Bundaberg, Queensland.  We are an 113 bed acute care private medical facility boasting five state of the art operating theatres, modern equipment, the latest technology and an excellent team of specialists and healthcare professionals.  Onsite medical imaging and pathology services further enhance our facility and are provided by Bundaberg Medical Imaging and Sullivan & Nicolaides respectively. All of these elements combine to make the Friendly Society Private Hospital one of Australia’s leading regional private medical facilities.

Private Medical Care Units

Maureen Kimber Unit (MKU)

MKU is a 26 bed clinical unit comprised of 22 single rooms with ensuite and 2 shared rooms.  MKU is predominantly dedicated to the care of surgical patients who require a post operative hospital stay.  Many patients undergoing plastic, ear nose & throat, bowel, urology or gynaecological surgery will have their recovery in MKU.

William Schoch Unit (WSU)

Our WSU is situated in the original part of the hospital and is a 31 bed unit made up of 11 single rooms with ensuite and 10 shared rooms.  Patients most commonly cared for in WSU include orthopaedic and vascular surgical patients, palliative care patients, as well as a vast array of medical patients.  A feature of this clinical unit is the ability to undertake high dependency monitoring and care for patients undergoing oncology & chemotherapy treatment.  The aged community is also commonly cared for in WSU.

Bob Philips Unit (BPU) and Coronary Care Unit (CCU)

BPU is the newest clinical unit of the Friendly Society Private Hospital, boasting state of the art equipment, technology and 23 beds each in a private room with ensuite.  BPU treats patients with a variety of general medical and cardiac conditions, as well as elderly patients who may be suffering from illnesses such as dementia.  Importantly, this unit is equipped with heightened security measures to ensure confused and wandering patients remain safe at all times.  Two isolation rooms are housed within BPU and the hospitals sleep studies program is also conducted from this unit.

Our CCU is the only private coronary care unit between the Sunshine Coast and Townsville with three dedicated CCU beds and an additional two high dependency beds.  CCU forms part of our Bob Philips Unit and predominantly treats cardiac patients.  These five beds are constantly monitored with equipment that is compatible and equivalent to that of Brisbane based hospitals; ensuring continuity of care where transportation of a patient is required either to or from Bundaberg.  Due to the nature of care that cardiac patients require, coupled with the extensive centralised monitoring, the CCU facility is of an open plan design.  Once stabilised, we have the ability to step-down the patients care to BPU.

Jack Scott Unit (JSU)

JSU is our theatre unit where all of the hospital’s surgical procedures take place in one of five state of the art operating theatres.  JSU undertakes a variety of surgical procedures including day surgery procedures.  If you wish to have your surgery undertaken at the Friendly Society Private Hospital please consult with your physician.
