Churchill-Matt

Matthew Churchill –  Physiotherapist

Matthew is the managing Physiotherapist at the Friendlies Physiotherapy Service in Bundaberg and brings extensive experience and knowledge to the practice.  Since graduating in 1998 from the University of Sydney with a Bachelor of Applied Science (Physiotherapy), Matt has gained over nine years of experience working in public hospitals both here in Australia and in the United Kingdom, as well as private practice experience in Sydney.

Matt spent two years working at the Liverpool Hospital in the UK where he worked as an Extended Scope Practitoner in the Emergency Department assessing and managing treatment of fractures and musculoskeletal injuries.  In addition to this role Matt also worked with a variety of other patients throughout the hospital.  Matt treated patients with Cardiopulmonary and Musculoskeletal complaints whilst also working with Rehabilitation and Instensive Care patients and providing Aged Care Assessment.

During his time in Private Practice Matt gained experience in:

  • Diagnosing, treating & managing sports injuries
  • Post operative rehabilitation
  • Injury screening for athletes
  • Chronic injury management and rehabilitation

Matt is also a very active sportsman and enjoys social tennis, squash, golf, rugby, soccer, AFL and touch football.  Matt has also competed in several triathlons, marathons and fun runs.  It is this love of sport that saw Matt take on Physio roles with state rugby and netball squads in NSW.

Matt has a special interest in swimming screening for squad athletes and specialises in fracture care, acute casting and post cast / ORIF as well as lower back pain/pelvic dysfunction experienced during and after pregnancy.

Hodson-Sarah

Sarah Hodson - Physiotherapist

Sarah graduated from the University of Queensland in 2005 having obtained a Bachelor of Physiotherapy.  Sarah has experience and a special interest in:

  • Post surgery and fracture rehabilitation
  • Hydrotherapy
  • Headache and neck pain
  • Sports injuries and management
  • Cardiac rehabilitation
  • Lymphoedema management and treatment

Sarah loves sports of all kinds, but has a particular love of soccer.  Sarah is a FIFA (international) level referee and has refereed matches in New Zealand, China, South East Asia and all over Australia.  Sarah has also played at an elite level at both state level and in Brisbane’s premier league which led her to a position of team physio for Brisbane and Queensland representative sides.

Lennan-Julia

Julia Lennan – Physiotherapist

Julia has recently joined the growing team at the Friendlies Physiotherapy Service.  After completing a Bachelor of Physiotherapy in 2008 at Newcastle University in NSW, Julia started her career at a private practice on the Sunshine Coast.

In this role Julia gained experience in treating a varied case load of patients, Julia has also completed extra postgraduate training in Pilates and Sports Physiotherapy.  It is both this experience and extra study that will bring additional advantages to what is already an outstanding level of treatment and care provided at the Friendlies Physiotherapy Service.

Julia has a special interest in sports injuries, and has previously participated in competitive surfing and soccer. In Julia’s last two years of her degree she worked as a sports trainer for Broadmeadow Magic Soccer Club and Westlakes Netball Association in Newcastle, as well as gaining experience with the Knights U16s and Northern NSW Women’s Soccer teams.
