Our CCU is the only private coronary care facility between Buderim on the Sunshine Coast and Townsville; it is equipped with the latest diagnostic and treatment equipment, an on-site Cardiologist and highly skilled coronary care team. Anaesthetics Anaesthetic services are provided by Coral Coast Anaesthesia who are located on the ground floor of the Friendly Society Private Hospital.  They operate independently from the hospital but are the provider of all anaesthetic services for the hospital's inpatients, should you require a pre-surgery check up with the Anaesthetist this will be co-ordinated through Coral Coast Anaesthesia.  Four Specialist and 2 General Practitioner Anaesthetists actively operate from Coral Coast Anaesthesia; Dr Martin Carter, Dr Jon Joiner, Dr David Merefield, Dr Alison McCready and Dr Cora Zyp.

Cardiology Cardiology is a brand of medicine pertaining to the heart and is a rapidly growing field that is supported by our Coronary Care Unit.  The Friendly Society Private Hospital provides an on-site Cardiologist, Dr Andre Conradie, who provides patients with specialist treatment when confronted with a cardiac condition or complaint. Further expansion into providing additional Cardiology services is highly likely for the Friendly Society Private Hospital moving forward.

Coronary Care Our Coronary Care Unit assists in the care for patients with heart conditions and is the only private Coronary Care Unit between Buderim and Townsville. Dr Andre Conradie (Cardiologist) and Dr Martin Strahan along with a highly skilled coronary care staff provide exceptional care for patients. Our unit is equipped with the latest diagnostic and treatment equipment.

Cosmetic Surgery Cosmetic Surgery is surgery that is performed with the sole goal to improve the appearance of otherwise healthy people.  This dynamic and ever increasingly popular surgery is regularly performed at the Friendly Society Private Hospital by Dr James Gaffield of Pacific Plastic Surgery, which is also located at the hospital.  More information can be obtained directly from their website www.pacificplasticsurgery.com.au

Dermatology Dermatology is a field of medicine that specifically deals with the skin and it's associated appendages, such as hair and nails.  Dr Terence Casey is a visiting specialist who consults from the Friendly Society Private Hospital.

Day Surgery Day surgery continues to grow in popularity, this is largely due to advances in technology and surgical techniques, meaning many procedures can now be performed with minimal invasive procedures.  Day surgery only requires post operative recovery during the day of the procedure, when you require a same day procedure, our Day Surgery Unit provides a high standard of care. Experienced staff assist you and help you through your day stay. Comfortable, private lounges are available for families to wait for their loved ones.

Ear, Nose & Throat From November 2011, Dr Herman Basson has commenced Ear, Nose and Throat services at the Friendly Society Private Hospital.  Typical surgical procedures relating to the Ear, Nose & Throat Specialty are tonsillectomies, adenoidectomies, grommets, laryngectomies and myringoplasty. Gastroenterology Gastroenterology is a branch of medicine that studies the digestive system and its disorders.  Many advances have been made in this field and specialists are available via the Freindly Society Private Hospital if you require treatment for such a complaint.

General Medicine General Medicine is otherwise known as Internal Medicine and is available via a Physician.  Internal Medicine is conerned with the diagnosis and treatment of diseases, especially of the internal organs, these Specialists are often referred to as the "Doctor's, Doctor"

General Surgery General Surgery is available via specialist surgeons who have been successfully credentialed to operate at the Friendly Society Private Hospital.  Dr Pitre Andreson and Dr Derek McGregor perform General Surgery at the Friendly Society Private Hospital.

High Dependency Unit The Friendly Society Private Hospital currently has four High Dependency Unit (HDU) beds that are equipped with state of the art equipment and specialised monitoring equipment.  This technology assists healthcare professionals caring for HDU patients better understand the complex nature of the conditions their patients are suffering from.

Medical Oncology Oncology is a specialty of medicine that deals with the study of cancer (tumours) and how they develop, as well as diagnosing, treating and perhaps preventing cancer.  Therapies such as Chemotherapy and Palliative Care are supported at the Friendly Society Private Hosptial.

Ophthalmology The medical specialty that relates to the optical organs, our eyes, is known as Ophthalmology.  Several local and visiting Specialists operate from the Friendly Society Private Hospital, including Dr Andrew Apel, Dr Isabel McLean, Dr Damien O'Brien and Dr Jai Panchapakesan.  Recent upgrades to our surgical unit and theatre equipment has ensured the facility keeps pace with advancements in this area of medicine.

Oral Surgery When Dentists are not able to safely operate within their surgeries, Dental/Oral Surgery can be performed at the Friendly Society Private Hospital.

Orthopaedics Orthopaedics is the branch of surgery concerned with addressing acute, chronic, traumatic and over use injuries and other disorders of the musculoskeletal system.  The most common surgery relates to arthroplasty for the joints particularly the knee and hip joints.  Dr Michael Delaney is a leading Orthopaedic surgeon who operates from the Friendly Society Private Hospital.

Plastic Surgery As with Cosmetic Surgery, Plastic Surgery is typically performed with the sole goal to improve the appearance of an otherwise healthy individual.  Plastic Surgery is generally reconstructive by nature but it can also include Cosmetic Surgery.  Dr James Gaffield of Pacific Plastic Surgery performs this form of surgery at the Friendly Society Private Hospital.

Sleep Studies The most common sleep disorder is Snoring and Obstructive Sleep Apnoea.  The Queensland Sleep Disorders Unit operates in conjunction with the Friendly Society Private Hospital to diagnose sleeping problems.  With effective management, sleep disorders can be treated and healthy sleep restored.

Urology Urology is the field of medicine that focuses on the urinary tracts of both men and women, as well as the reproductive system of men.  Local specialists, such as Dr Pitre Anderson are supported by visiting specialists from Brisbane who also utilise the facilities and services of the Friendly Society Private Hospital.

Vascular Surgery Vascular Surgery is a sub specialty of General Surgery in which diseases of the vascular system, or arteries and veins, are managed, largely via surgical intervention.  This type of procedure is currently supported by Dr Mark Ray, a specialist in this field who consults from within the Friendly Society Private Hospital.
